Memorial
In the early 1900, Mollie Moore Davis 217 purchased a marble statue that marks the graves of over 200 unknown Confederate soldiers who died at Camp Ford Training Camp. These graves had been tended by local ladies seen the War.
In 1999, Mollie Moore Davis 217 members were instrumental in forming the Oakwood Cemetery Preservation Committee. Through work and dedication, Oakwood is now a beautiful resting place for our soldiers. The chapter purchased a new lighted flagpole that flies a United States flag AND a First National Flag. Oakwood Cemetery has now been designated as a Historical Cemetery.
Mollie Moore Davis 217 has participated in efforts to restore the Confederate statue on the courthouse square in Rusk, Texas.
Memorial Observations are observed annually to remember, not only the men who served in the War of Northern Aggression, but veterans of all wars.
